File Server Cloud Enablement for MSPs
Multi-Tenant File Access Platform Built for Managed Service Providers
CentreStack is Gladinet's flagship multi-tenant enterprise file sync and share (EFSS) platform, purpose-built for Managed Service Providers, IT service providers, and hosting companies who want to deliver secure remote file access as a managed service. This is not a consumer sync tool repackaged for the channel — CentreStack was designed from the ground up with multi-tenancy, white-labelling, and service provider economics at its core.
The architecture is straightforward. An MSP installs the CentreStack server software on a Windows Server VM in their own data centre, on AWS, Azure, or any IaaS provider. From the multi-tenant web portal, the MSP spins up new tenants (clients), installs a lightweight File Server Agent on each client's existing Windows file server, and bridges the local data to the MSP's CentreStack cloud. Users then access their files through a native mapped drive letter, web portal, or mobile app — exactly as they would with a local file server, but from anywhere over HTTPS.
The critical advantage for MSPs is true multi-tenancy on a single server instance. There is no need to build separate virtual machines for each client. CentreStack natively sandboxes and segregates file shares, users, storage, and policies per tenant. The MSP controls billing, storage quotas, access policies, and branding for all their clients from a single centralised console. This is the operational efficiency that makes file access services profitable for the channel.
White-label branding runs deep. MSPs can rebrand the web portal, login pages, desktop clients, and even iOS/Android mobile apps with their own logos, colour schemes, and custom URLs. End users never see the Gladinet name — they see their MSP's brand. This is essential for service providers who want to build sticky, branded relationships with their clients rather than reselling a commodity product.
CentreStack directly integrates with on-premises Active Directory and Azure AD, preserving and enforcing existing NTFS permissions across every access method — desktop, web, and mobile. Global file locking prevents version conflicts when multiple users access the same file from different locations. Binary differential sync ensures that only changed portions of large files are transferred, reducing bandwidth consumption by up to 99%. Ransomware protection with behaviour-based endpoint detection and deep file versioning rounds out the security posture.
The storage backend is completely agnostic. MSPs can plug CentreStack into any storage — local SAN/NAS, Wasabi, Amazon S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Storage, or OpenStack Swift. This flexibility allows MSPs to build high-margin storage services by bringing their own cost-effective storage (like Wasabi at a fraction of Azure Blob pricing) while charging clients at a premium rate.

Deployment
Self-hosted (on-premises), private cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), or Gladinet-hosted SaaS
Tenancy
True multi-tenancy — sandboxed users, storage, policies, and branding per client
White-Labelling
Full rebrand: web portal, desktop clients, mobile apps, URLs, logos, colour schemes
Authentication
Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML SSO — per-tenant identity integration
Permissions
NTFS permissions preserved and enforced across desktop, web, and mobile
File Locking
Automatic global file locking across all devices and locations
Storage Backend
Agnostic — local NAS/SAN, Wasabi, S3, Azure Blob, GCS, OpenStack Swift
CentreStack competes directly with Egnyte, Citrix ShareFile, and the growing wave of MSPs trying to cobble together file services from OneDrive and SharePoint. Egnyte is the premium, enterprise-grade hybrid cloud platform. It is highly capable but also very expensive and primarily sold direct-to-enterprise as a SaaS offering. Egnyte lacks true multi-tenancy and white-labelling — which means MSPs cannot resell it under their own brand or manage multiple clients from a single instance. CentreStack is dramatically more channel-friendly and cost-effective. MSPs prefer CentreStack because it offers genuine multi-tenancy, allows them to set their own margins by bringing their own storage (like Wasabi at a fraction of Egnyte's storage costs), and provides the complete white-label branding Egnyte simply does not offer. Citrix ShareFile has historically focused on secure document delivery, client portals, virtual data rooms, and e-signatures. While it offers a mapped drive tool, CentreStack is generally superior at serving as a direct replacement for traditional local file server access. CentreStack's ability to mirror on-premises Active Directory and NTFS permissions without breaking inheritance is typically much cleaner than ShareFile's implementation, making CentreStack a faster "plug-and-play" option for lifting legacy file servers into the cloud. For MSPs currently selling OneDrive or SharePoint as a file access solution — CentreStack is where the margin lives. Microsoft's tools require data migration, break NTFS permissions, struggle with large files, and offer zero white-labelling. CentreStack preserves everything, works with any storage backend, and lets the MSP own the client relationship. The economics are straightforward: bring your own storage at wholesale rates, brand the platform as your own, and charge a per-user managed service fee.
