GitHub is where your source code, pull requests, and development history live. A compromised account, a force-push that overwrites months of work, or a deleted repository can mean catastrophic data loss. GitHub provides no native backup. Their recommendation is git clone, which captures the repo but misses pull requests, issues, team configurations, and repository settings.
