NAKIVO for Hyper-V

NAKIVO Backup & Replication provides agentless, image-based data protection purpose-built for Microsoft Hyper-V environments. It integrates natively with Microsoft's Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) to ensure transactionally consistent backups of live applications — SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory — without shutting down VMs or disrupting users.

Performance is handled through Microsoft's native Resilient Change Tracking (RCT) technology, which means incremental backups capture only the blocks that have actually changed since the last run. The result is shorter backup windows, less storage consumption, and minimal impact on production Hyper-V hosts. For clustered environments, NAKIVO keeps track of VMs as they migrate across Hyper-V Failover Cluster nodes — no manual reconfiguration required.

Disaster recovery capabilities include full VM replication with automated failover and failback, plus Site Recovery orchestration for multi-step DR runbooks. Cross-platform recovery is a genuine differentiator: you can export Hyper-V VHD/VHDX backups as VMware VMDK files, giving you a migration path between hypervisors without third-party conversion tools.
