Cloud-Enabled File Server Access
Access Your File Server From Anywhere — No VPN, No Migration, No Downtime
UFSConnect File Access is the core of the platform — it cloud-enables your existing Windows file servers so your team can access files remotely through a native mapped drive letter, a web portal, or mobile apps, without the need for a VPN, data migration, or infrastructure changes. Your existing file server remains the single source of truth, and UFSConnect layers secure HTTPS access over the top.
The implementation is designed to take hours rather than months. You install a lightweight File Server Agent on your existing Windows file server, which establishes a secure outbound HTTPS connection to the UFSConnect cloud gateway — no open inbound firewall ports required. You link your Active Directory, and users are ready to go. They see a familiar mapped drive letter (e.g., M:\) in Windows Explorer, which means zero end-user training and zero workflow disruption. On Mac, iOS, and Android, native apps give users the same familiar file tree.
What makes UFSConnect fundamentally different from SharePoint or OneDrive is that it preserves your existing NTFS permissions and Active Directory structure exactly as they are. There is no re-permissioning, no folder restructuring, and no migration of terabytes of data into a third-party cloud. Your data stays where it is — on your server, in your data centre, under your control. UFSConnect simply makes it accessible from everywhere.
Global file locking is automatic and works across all devices and locations. When someone opens a file for editing, it is locked for everyone else — preventing the version conflicts and file corruption that plague consumer-grade sync tools like OneDrive and Dropbox. This is particularly critical for engineering firms working with large CAD/BIM files, where a version conflict can mean hours of lost work.
All UFSConnect cloud infrastructure and data storage is hosted exclusively in Sydney and Melbourne data centres, ensuring strict compliance with Australian privacy laws and data sovereignty requirements. Every connection is secured with AES-256 encryption in transit and at rest, with full audit trails for compliance reporting.

Deployment
Lightweight File Server Agent on existing Windows file server — hours, not months
UFSConnect File Access goes head-to-head with SharePoint/OneDrive, Citrix ShareFile, and Egnyte — and wins on simplicity, speed of deployment, and data control. SharePoint and OneDrive require migrating terabytes of data into Microsoft's cloud, rebuilding permissions from scratch, and retraining users on a completely different folder structure. That migration alone can take months and cost more than the subscription itself. UFSConnect requires zero data migration — your file server stays exactly where it is, and users access it through a familiar drive letter. Consumer-grade sync tools like OneDrive and Dropbox struggle with true file locking and cannot handle large file workflows like CAD rendering without creating version conflicts. UFSConnect is purpose-built for these exact scenarios: global file locking, binary differential sync (only the changed portions of large files are transferred), and native mapped drive access that plays nicely with CAD, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other demanding applications. Citrix ShareFile is strong on secure document delivery and virtual data rooms but weaker at serving as a direct replacement for traditional file server access. Egnyte is capable but expensive, sold direct-to-enterprise with no channel flexibility, and lacks the Australian-hosted infrastructure that compliance-driven organisations require. UFSConnect delivers the same hybrid file access capability at a lower cost, with 100% Australian data sovereignty, and a deployment timeline measured in hours rather than months.
