Intelligent File Synchronisation & Offline Access
Keep Your Teams in Sync — Binary Differential Updates, Offline Access, Zero Conflicts
UFSConnect File Sync extends the File Access platform with intelligent synchronisation capabilities designed for teams that need to work offline, across unreliable connections, or with very large files. Rather than replacing your file server with a cloud-only sync folder (the Dropbox/OneDrive approach), File Sync keeps your existing file server as the authoritative source and provides selective, on-demand synchronisation to endpoints.
The standout capability is binary differential sync. When a user modifies a large file — say, a 500 MB AutoCAD drawing — UFSConnect only transfers the changed blocks, not the entire file. This can reduce transfer sizes by up to 99%, which is transformative for teams working over limited bandwidth connections or at remote construction sites. Combined with intelligent caching that only downloads files when they are actually opened, UFSConnect minimises both bandwidth consumption and local storage requirements.
Offline access is handled elegantly. Users can selectively mark folders for offline synchronisation, and those folders are cached locally on their device. Any changes made while offline are queued and automatically synchronised when connectivity is restored — with the global file locking system preventing conflicts. This is a fundamentally different approach from consumer sync tools, which create "conflicting copy" files and leave users to manually resolve the mess.
For administrators, File Sync provides centralised policy controls. You can define which folders are available for offline sync, set storage quotas per user, and enforce encryption policies on cached data. Comprehensive audit trails track every file access, sync event, and modification across the organisation — essential for compliance in regulated industries. The entire platform runs on Australian-hosted infrastructure with AES-256 encryption, ensuring data sovereignty is maintained even when files are cached on remote devices.
Sync Method
Binary differential — only changed blocks transferred (up to 99% reduction)
Offline Access
Selective folder sync with automatic reconnection and conflict-free queuing
Intelligent Caching
On-demand file download — files cached only when opened, minimising local storage
Conflict Prevention
Global file locking prevents simultaneous edits; no "conflicting copy" files
Admin Controls
Centralised sync policies, storage quotas, encryption enforcement
Audit Trail
Complete logging of file access, sync events, and modifications
Data Sovereignty
100% Australian-hosted with AES-256 encryption on cached data
Large File Support
Purpose-built for CAD, BIM, Adobe, and other large-file workflows
UFSConnect File Sync competes directly with OneDrive, Dropbox Business, and Egnyte on synchronisation — but approaches the problem from the opposite direction. OneDrive and Dropbox force you to move your data into their cloud first, then sync it down to endpoints. UFSConnect keeps your data on your file server and selectively syncs to endpoints on demand. The difference matters enormously for organisations with tens of terabytes of data and strict data sovereignty requirements. Binary differential sync is the killer feature for large-file workflows. OneDrive re-uploads the entire file on every save. Dropbox does the same. For a 500 MB CAD file where a user changed a single component, that means 500 MB uploaded every time — and "conflicting copy" files when two people edit simultaneously. UFSConnect transfers only the changed blocks (often just a few megabytes) and locks the file globally to prevent conflicts entirely. For engineering firms, this alone justifies the platform. Egnyte offers decent large-file handling but at a premium price point and without Australian-hosted infrastructure. For Australian organisations in compliance-driven industries, UFSConnect delivers the same synchronisation capability with guaranteed data sovereignty and a significantly lower total cost of ownership.
