XCubeSAN Hybrid Flash SAN Storage
Start small and scale as needed with future-ready performance.
The XCubeSAN is QSAN's bread-and-butter SAN platform, and it's where a lot of Australian channel partners find their sweet spot. Available in both dual-controller (HA) and single-controller configurations — with the single-controller models upgradeable to dual — it's designed around a pay-as-you-grow philosophy. You're not paying for capacity or performance you don't need yet.
Running on SANOS, the XCubeSAN delivers fully redundant active-active dual-controller architecture that doubles host bandwidth and ensures zero wasted resources. Cache-to-Flash memory protection keeps your data safe during power outages, while QTiering (auto tiering) and QCache (SSD cache) intelligently move data between flash and spinning disk to optimise performance without manual intervention.
This is the workhorse for server clustering, heavy virtualisation hosting, large-scale IP video surveillance, database workloads, and post-production video editing. It competes with Dell ME4/ME5 and entry-level NetApp SANs — but wins on availability (99.9999%), included software features, and the ability to use third-party drives without voiding your warranty.

The XCubeSAN competes directly with Dell ME4 and ME5 series, and with entry-level NetApp E-Series and FAS. In the Australian mid-market, Dell ME is everywhere — it's the default choice. But here's the thing: QSAN gives you 99.9999% availability, all advanced software features included (no separate licences for snapshots, replication, or tiering), and third-party drive support. Dell and NetApp charge extra for every feature and lock you into their drive ecosystem. The single-to-dual controller upgrade path is also a genuine differentiator — start with the S model at a lower price point, then add the second controller when your business demands it. Smart scaling, not forced over-provisioning.
