QSAN XN5 Series — Performance-Oriented All-NVMe Unified Storage
Enterprise unified, NVMe across the bus.
The QSAN XN5 series is the flagship of the new dual-active NVMe unified line. Same 26-bay chassis platform as the [XF5 series](/vendors/qsan/products/xf5-series) block array, but configured for higher sustained IOPS and the lowest latency QSM 4 can deliver. For Australian enterprises running mission-critical workloads — virtualisation at scale, database hosting, low-latency file collaboration — the XN5226 is the unified-protocol option that doesn't force a separate SAN-plus-NAS purchase.
QSM 4 brings the full enterprise data-services suite to the array: WORM compliance, SED encryption at folder/pool/drive level, XMirror replication across geographies, public-cloud tier-out, snapshot and replication policies, deduplication and compression. The shared platform with XF5 means partners get an upper bound on performance from the XF5's published 100µs latency on PCIe Gen4. Mirrored firmware HA delivers 99.9999%+ availability through controller events.
For tier-1 Australian enterprise primary storage, financial services back office, AI/ML training data lakes serving NFSv4 reads to GPU nodes alongside iSCSI targets to feature-store databases, and large MSPs with mixed-protocol enterprise tenants — the XN5 is QSAN's answer to NetApp AFF C-series and Dell PowerStore 1000T+ at price points 30–50% below.

Shared platform with XF5 (100µs latency, PCIe Gen4 NVMe upper bound)
Data Services
WORM, SED, XMirror geo-replication, deduplication, compression, snapshots
Hardware Platform
Shared chassis with XF5 series and KS2 (qs_hm_XF52-XN52, qs_hm_KS22-XN52)
The XN5 competes directly against NetApp AFF C-series and Dell PowerStore 1000T+. Pure FlashArray//C is a near match on raw performance but Pure won't sell unified — they'd push FlashBlade for file. QSAN's true active-active dual controllers plus ZFS data integrity give a credible technical story; pricing typically lands 30–50% below NetApp AFF for similar raw IOPS. QSM 4's cross-platform replication into XEVO 3 block arrays remains the structural differentiator that NetApp, Dell, and Pure don't offer between their own product lines.
One of the advantages of working with CRS — we can recommend the best combination of vendors for your specific needs.
NAKIVO
NAKIVO protects XN5-hosted VMs and file shares with snapshot-integrated agentless backup.
Proxmox
Proxmox VE clusters use XN5 as a unified storage backend — iSCSI for VMs, NFS for shared resources.
StoneFly
Replicate XN5 to StoneFly immutable DR appliances for air-gapped recovery from ransomware events.
StarWind
StarWind VTL on XN5 NVMe for high-performance backup-target performance.
QSAN XN5 Series is available through Cloud Ready Solutions and our network of authorised partners across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.
